ABOUT TRACKING PARALLEL

The genesis of “TRACKING PARALLEL” is the 55-year gap between Heidi’s mother at 33 undergoing brain tumor surgery and Heidi undergoing the same in January of 2024. It is an evening length pure dance piece for a cast of 9 based on the unpredictability of life and how we navigate the ensuing chaos by imposing some sort of order to it. Ultimately it is about resilience. Not sentimental but haunting; fractured; repetitive; about never touching in our separate journeys but intermittently connecting very intimately; about letting go because we have to and letting go because we want to; a journey going nowhere but here.

To mark the moments in life of discovery and change, the score’s foundation is MRI sounds that come and go but are always there even imperceptibly. Interspersed through this sound are original very moving compositions by longtime collaborators like Ximena Borges, Randall Woolf and Chris Brierley who were commissioned by Heidi over the years.

As Heidi travels through her own healing journey and the creation of this new body of work, she is feeling the need to go back in time to move forward into the future. “TRACKING PARALLEL” aims to capture that.
